How Uni works, what it is, and what it isn't. Updated May 2026.
Uni is an AI wellness portal created by UNITE. It uses large language model technology to guide you through science-backed wellness techniques — breathwork, grounding, and mindfulness — and measures your wellbeing shift before and after each session.
Uni is a tool for self-directed wellness support. It is not a medical device, a therapeutic service, or a substitute for professional mental health care.
Uni is not a therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, counselor, or licensed healthcare provider. Conversations with Uni do not constitute therapy, diagnosis, or medical advice.
Uni does not have memory between sessions unless you create an account. It cannot contact emergency services on your behalf.
Uni is powered by artificial intelligence. Every response is generated by a language model (Anthropic Claude). You are always talking to an AI — not a human. Uni will confirm this directly if you ask.
UNITE complies with California SB 243 and similar AI disclosure regulations requiring that AI systems clearly identify themselves as AI when interacting with users.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, thoughts of self-harm, or a medical emergency, please contact emergency services or a crisis line immediately.
Uni collects only what is needed to provide the service: your messages, wellbeing scores, and session data. Data is anonymous by default — no account required. If you create an account, your email is stored securely and used only to save your journey.
UNITE does not sell personal data to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Uni monitors every conversation for crisis signals (self-harm, suicidal ideation, references to immediate danger). When detected, Uni immediately surfaces crisis resources and 988. This safety layer cannot be turned off.
Uni is designed to always refer users to real human support for serious mental health concerns rather than attempting to address them alone.
